How it works

We analyse language patterns, not people.

01

Add a conversation

You decide what you want to share, and how much. Names and personal details are anonymised right there in your browser, before anything is sent.

02

Our technology finds the patterns

Your anonymised, encrypted text is then analysed by our technology to uncover patterns in tone, attachment, communication style, and emotional cues.

03

Reflect on your portrait

Get your portrait based on our variety lenses of analysis. Use it to improve and develop your relationship.

Psychological Analysis Report
Detected languages: English
Purpose statement: This report provides a psychological analysis of Daniel’s communication patterns, emotional tone, and behavioural evolution within his relationships.

A chat log covering several years between Daniel and one other participant, ranging over everyday updates, professional pressures and ambitions, close relationships, family matters, and financial strain.

Based solely on the supplied written material. It does not constitute a clinical evaluation, and interpretations are probabilistic.

Inferred Relationship Type: Close friendship / supportive confidant.
Confidence: 85%
Justification: Sustained openness and mutual support; both discuss relationship difficulty, work stress and money in detail.
Approximate Percentages of Exchanges: positive 55-65%, neutral 20-30%, negative or tense 10-20%.
General Interaction Climate: Largely supportive, with external stressors introducing shared tension rather than conflict between the two.

Consistently responsive to the other participant’s emotional state, turning concern into practical help rather than reassurance alone, and shares his own difficulties in return.

Analyze My Conversation
Real reflections

“You saw me.” That’s the whole point.

Real people. Real texts. Real change.

I uploaded my texts and it noticed something I’d missed for two years. Not a verdict, just a mirror I hadn’t held up before.
Sam New York · together 6 years self-awareness
I expected something invasive. It only ever looked at my own side. That turned out to be the point.
Daniel California · newly single privacy-first
Like journaling, but smarter. It put words to a pattern I keep repeating in every group chat I’m in.
Michelle Texas · reflecting on friendships pattern clarity
Why not just ask ChatGPT?

The same answer every time isn’t always the right answer.

A generic answer can sound convincing. Understanding you means getting closer to the real you.

A generic AI answer

It lands in the same place every time, but that place isn’t you.

Our method

It reads the patterns in your real conversation, so it lands closer to you.

Consistent doesn’t mean accurate.

What matters is landing closer to the real you, not repeating the same confident guess every time.

Analyze My Conversation

Researchers tested this on real people. A general AI gave the same answer every time, and it usually wasn’t them.

Source: Zhu J, Li X, Maharjan J, Coifman KG, Jin R. Benchmarking Personality Inference in Large Language Models Using Real-World Conversations, Journal of Psychiatry and Brain Science 2025;10(6):e250020. 518 participants; the four models tested were general-purpose LLMs, not Portraitor.

Why use Portraitor?

Portraitor and therapy reveal different sides of the picture

Portraitor analyses the conversation itself. A therapist helps you understand your experience of it.

Portraitor Reads the written record
  • Analyzes the actual conversation from both sides
  • Can review months or years of messages at once
  • Works from the written record, not memory alone
  • Detects recurring patterns in communication, tone and interaction
  • A structured psychological portrait with confidence estimates
Therapist Helps you process the experience
  • Explores your perspective through conversation
  • Builds context progressively across sessions
  • Works with what you remember and discuss
  • Interprets emotions, context and lived experience
  • Personal guidance, dialogue and human support
What the analysis looks at

Four lenses on the same conversation

Lens

Relationship context

Established before anything else is interpreted. The same sentence means one thing from a manager and something else from a partner.

How it is reported

One label with a confidence score and a short justification, drawn from topics, terms of address and shared context, alongside an approximate positive / neutral / negative split of the whole conversation.

What gets measured 5 signals
Romantic partner
Current or former. Shared logistics, intimacy, plans for the future.
Family member
Parent, child, sibling or extended. Long history, obligation, fixed roles.
Close friend
Chosen closeness with no obligation. Disclosure without shared logistics.
Colleague or manager
Task-driven and role-bound, with authority running one way.
Mixed or unclear
Group threads where several relationship types run at once. Named rather than forced into one label.
Questions

Portraitor FAQs

Straight answers about how Portraitor works, what it costs, and what happens to your data.

What is Portraitor?

Portraitor turns an exported conversation (WhatsApp, Telegram and more) into a psychological portrait: the patterns in tone, attachment, and communication style inside the chat. $19 a month gives you 10 portraits, or pay once for a single portrait. Conversations are anonymised in your browser before analysis and never stored.

What happens to my conversation, and who owns it?

Once identifying details have been stripped on your device, the anonymised text is analysed by our technology running on secure third-party infrastructure, then discarded straight away: never stored, never sold, never shared. You own everything: the only copies are the one in your browser and the portrait we email you. We keep payment records only, with no chat content, for as long as tax law requires.

Who can I analyse in the chat?

Yourself, or someone who has agreed to it. Our Terms require anyone other than you to opt in first, and you confirm you have permission before an analysis starts. We can't verify that for you. It's yours to get right.

What happens if I delete my portrait?

It's gone for good. We hold no backup and can't restore one, because portraits live in your browser, not on our servers. The email we send is your only permanent copy.

How long can my conversation be?

There's no hard limit. For the fastest result, keep it between 100,000 and 200,000 characters, roughly a few months of an active chat. Longer still works, or split it, with each part counting as a separate analysis.

How does the monthly plan work?

$19 a month gives you 10 portraits. One person is one portrait, two people are two, a group of five is five. Your 10 portraits come back on your renewal date each month; unused ones are lost, not added on top.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Open your Pass from the Pass panel and choose Cancel, any time. You keep the portraits you've paid for until the end of the month, and you're not charged again. No fee, no minimum term.

What happens if I run out of portraits?

The tool shows how many are left before you start. When they run out, wait for your renewal date or pay once for a single portrait.

Who can use my Pass?

Anyone you send the code, link, or QR to. That's what it's for. They enter it and start straight away. Everyone draws from the same pool of 10 a month, so sharing costs nothing extra, but anyone you share with is spending your portraits.

How do refunds work?

A failed analysis is refunded automatically, with nothing to claim. For anything else, email admin@portraitor.ai and we'll handle it in line with your rights under consumer law, set out in our Terms. Payments run through Stripe, so we never see your card details.

What if I paid but never got my portrait?

Check your history in the app. An interrupted portrait is saved there and can be resumed. If it finished, check your spam folder; the portrait is in your browser either way. A failed analysis is refunded automatically. Still stuck, email admin@portraitor.ai.

What if the portrait analysed the wrong person?

Portraitor analyses whoever you name before starting. The tool detects the names in your chat and offers them. Pick from that list, or type the name exactly as it appears. Fixing it means running it again, which uses another portrait.
